Pendergast District Welcomes Future Kindergarten Students at Free Community Event

Fun, food, face painting and free readiness kits for new Kindergarten students

Phoenix Az. – April 4, 2015 – A, B, C, D, Pendergast Schools are the place for me! The Pendergast District is welcoming all future kindergarten students and their families to a special event on April 28, 2015 from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Pendergast Community Center located at 10550 West Mariposa Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85037.

The inaugural event will feature free face painting for children, a balloon artist and video of Welcome to PESD Kindergarten. Pendergast Kindergarten teachers will help prepare students and parents for kindergarten with relevant lessons in reading, writing, math and kindergarten tips for success. The program will be offered in Spanish and English. Each family attending will receive a free readiness kit with math, reading and phonics activities, a writing journal, an age appropriate book, pencils and much more.

Pendergast offers families and students:

District Superintendent Dr. Lily Matos DeBlieux will kick-off the event along with the District Mascot Bruce the Bee who will pose for pictures with each future student. Door prizes will be provided and refreshments will be served.

Governing Board President Susan Serin shares, “We are so excited to bring this free event to our community to showcase the fantastic kindergarten programs we offer in Pendergast’s twelve schools. Families will not only have fun at this event, they will learn what our kindergarten programs have to offer as they meet and interact with teachers.”  Families will also have the opportunity to tour the Pendergast Community Center and visit the Family Resource Center and Maricopa Integrated Health Systems Family Clinic.

Registration representatives will be on hand for students who will be five years of age on or before September 1, 2015. To register, parents need to bring the following:

A government issued photo identification.

Two Proofs of Residency Main: (must be current within the last 30 days)

Proof of Residency Secondary: (must be current within the last 30 days)

Immunization Records

Birth Certificate

Pendergast District welcomes students from out of district through open enrollment.
