Dear Staff,

National School Choice Week is January 21-27 and as we begin the second half of the 2017-2018 school year, it seems like the perfect time to celebrate the successes of Arizona public schools. Because of your hard work and dedication, public schools continue to be the number one educational choice of parents across the state.

Even with the multitude of K-12 educational options - more choices than any other state in the United States - parents of more than eight out of ten students in Arizona choose to send their children to local public schools.

Recent research confirms what we have long known instinctively: Families have deep pride, and a sense of commitment, ownership and responsibility to the schools they choose for their children. In the Pendergast Elementary School District, we celebrate that choice, commitment and vote of confidence, and take very seriously the responsibility that comes with it.

Families choose Pendergast schools because our amazing staff offers unique and excelling educational prorogams. Also, excellent education options close to home are not only convenient, but essential to many of our families.

Today's parents have a choice - and I want to thank you for all that you do and for BEE-lieving in our 10,000 students.

GET A FLU SHOT!

There is still time to get vaccinated.

According to the Department of Health Services, cases of the flu doubled in Arizona with 752 cases reported last week alone and 346 cases reported the previous week.

This significant increase brought the number of lab-confirmed cases this flu season to approximately 3,300.

The flu vaccine is the best way to prevent influenza.

If you are on the District medical insurance plan, there is no cost to the member and eligible dependents for preventative services when using a contracted provider.

Pendergast Elementary School District Certified and Classified staff (Sorry! Administrators are not eligible) who make it through the school year without missing a day will be eligible to win one of our GRAND PRIZES! Perfect attendance started on the first day of school.

This year, our GRAND PRIZES will be a car and two Rocky Point Weekend Getaways!
