Our Amazing Governing Board!

Picture of Dr. DeBlieux with a new kindergartener.

Dear Staff,

As I visit classrooms throughout the district I couldn't be more excited about all of the inspired teaching I've seen and how it is engaging our students.

We are also implementing new and innovative programs this year including the Pendrgast Escape Bus. However, without the input and support of our amazing Governing Board, programs like this just wouldn't be possible.

Picture of the Governing School Board in front of the Puzzle Bus.

Board members volunteer their time to serve the Pendergast Elementary School District. They work hard to maintain a high level of academic excellence, ensuring that we meet and exceed our academic goals. We normally hold our governing board meetings at 6:00 pm on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the District Board Room. I encourage staff, parents and community members to attend these meetings in order to stay informed about district activities.

For a list of times and location of future board meetings, please visit the Pendergast Governing Board Meeting Schedule for 2018-2019.

As students and their teachers enter, they will be given a perplexing scenario.

Arizona Gear Up LogoMiddle-grade educators and staff are invited to participate this year in the UPDATED and FREE online course, College and Career Planning in the Middle Grades, made possible by the State GEAR UP Office at Northern Arizona University in partnership with the Arizona College Access Network (AzCAN).

This Arizona-content-specific course provides participants with current resources to increase students’ early awareness of college and careers.  Since 2015, more than 180 Arizona educators have completed the course, and 11 schools have been recognized by AzCAN as an Early College and Career Awareness School for their participation.

In Arizona, we understand that the seeds for post-secondary success must be planted before students arrive in high school.  This course offers the opportunity to address goals and standards that are already part of your district or charter commitments, taking advantage of meaningful topics that engage students.

  • Engage in constructive discussions with a professional learning community.
  • Complete practical, hands-on activities designed for implementation at your schools.
  • Reading and discussion each week for approximately four to six hours.

  • Come away with specific plans for incorporating college/career education into existing curricula.
  • Introduction to lessons and activities that help students identify personal goals and begin academic planning designed for high school matriculation.
  • Exposure to the most current college/career resources specific to Arizona educators, (ECAP, AzCIS Jr, etc.).
  • Earn 20 professional development hours for Continuing Education Units.
  • Recognition as an Early College and Career Awareness School for having three or more educators complete the course.

Educators and staff from any public school that serves middle-grade students in Arizona are eligible to register for this six-week course, with four convenient session dates to choose from.

To register, please return the registration form for either an individual or a team.  Space is limited with sessions filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
