Dear Staff,

Today, we honor of all those who lost their lives on 9/11 and our first responders and military who continue to protect us from foreign and domestic threats.

There were 110 floors and 2,071 steps in the Twin Towers. On Friday, September 8, our 8th Grade Superintendent's Student Council remembered the bravery of those who lost their lives on 9/11 by joining hundreds of people in stadiums across Arizona by taking the journey of 2,071 steps and completing the 911 Tower Challenge at Gila River Arena.

Tim Ramsey, 7th grade teacher at Westwind, shared with me "The Healing Power of Children," the first story he had published in a Chicken Soup for the Soul book (Teacher Tales, 2009).

"I read it to my college students yesterday - most of them were in preschool when the Towers went down," Tim said, "I plan on reading it to my seventh graders. They were born four years after the attacks."

I am here to serve you. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance.

REVISED SICK LEAVE POLICY

During the summer months, the Sick Leave & PTO policy was revised to be in compliance with Proposition 206. We want to take this opportunity now that all employees have returned and our new hires all have access, to share the policy language with you.

The policy was revised to include the statute language of the proposition and add some reason that are valid to use PTO/Sick Leave (also pursuant to the statute). However, in general, since the District already provides employees with more days that the Proposition required, our accrual, request process and payout process have not changed as part of this revision.

Please Review the Policy >>
