Desert Horizon Elementary School is a community where respect, engagement and a passion for learning lead to individuals achieving their highest potential.

ACADEMICS

At Desert Horizon Elementary, the Arizona College and Career Readiness Standards are taught campus-wide. Our school focuses on high student achievement and teaching the "whole-child" through fine arts, music, physical education and award winning programs.

Dual Language Kindergarten is where half of the instruction is in English and half is in Spanish. The goal is that students will achieve academic excellence in all subject areas as they learn both languages, as well as, acquire an understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural differences.

21st Century After School STEM provides tutoring and enrichment classes for students before and after school. In addition, extended library times is offered to the community to utilize the library and its resources.

TECHNOLOGY

Students have access to state of the art technology. Teachers utilize the latest instructional techniques using SMART Boards, laptops and iPads to engage students in 21st Century learning.

CITIZENSHIP

School wide student citizenship and character building programs including Well Managed Schools are featured in each school, as well as, student awards given out for outstanding behavior and positive attitudes.
