Pendergast District schools were alive with patriotic colors, music and emotions as the schools and their communities combined for the traditional Veterans Day celebrations. The colors were red, white and blue, and the music was performed by students of every age. The emotions were seen on the faces and in the words of gratitude shared by students, and the stories of inspiration shared by the servicemen and women.

A 95-year-old veteran waved to the Copper King assembly and more modern day troops took the time to read to students at Rio Vista. At Garden Lakes students learned proper care for the American Flag and at Desert Horizon students collected 2600 holiday greeting cards so those stationed in foreign lands could send them home to loved ones. Pendergast Elementary students talked via web-chat to their music teacher now serving in Kuwait.
