School Bus Safety Expectations
 

1. Students are expected to act safely and responsibly

  • Follow bus driver and school staff instructions immediately
  • Face forward and remain seated while the bus is moving
  • All carry on items (musical instruments, backpacks, etc.) must be controlled by and kept on student's lap
  • Keep aisle clear and all parts of your body in the bus
  • Stay clear of the "Danger Zones" outside the bus
  • Cross the street in front of the bus
  • Maintain safe and orderly conduct at bus stops

2. Students are expected to be respectful towards others

  • Keep our hands to yourself
  • Talk quietly and use appropriate language

3. Food, gum, drinks, (except water) are not permitted on buses. Consequences are...

1st Offense: Warning, Driver/Student Conference and Seat Assignment
2nd Offense: Referral to Principal and Parent
3rd Offense: Referral to Principal and Parent / 1 to 3 Day Suspension from the bus
4th Offense: Referral to Principal and Parent / 3 to 5 Day Suspension from the bus
5th and Repeated Offenses: Referral to Principal and Parent / 2 or More Weeks Suspension from the bus

Immediate Referral: NO WARNINGS (minimum of 1 day suspension from the bus)

  • Fighting or attempting to harm others
  • Disrespect to or refusal to follow driver and/or staff instructions
  • Possession of tobacco, weapons, controlled substances
  • Intentionally damageing district or private property

STATE LAW FORBIDS: ANIMALS, INSECTS, TOBACCO, GLASS, OR DANGEROUS ITEMS ON SCHOOL BUS
