Mrs. McCarthy’s—Snapshot View Mrs. McCarthy . . . · Attended school here in Phoenix, Arizona. Was part of the very first gifted program in the Alhambra School District. It was a great experience! · Moved to Colorado, where I learned to ski, ice skate, and have fun in the snow. · Attended Grand Canyon University, where I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and Communications. Grand Canyon University gave me some wonderful, memorable experiences. Here, I competed on the Speech Team, acted in several plays, wrote for the school newspaper, played in the string orchestra, competed in tennis and softball, pledged into Iota Phi Sorority and Alpha Chi Fraternity, interned for Channel 10 News, and made many life long friends. · Graduated from Northern Arizona University with a Master of Education in Curriculum and Design in 1997. · Have taught for many, many years, both in the regular classroom, as a Reading Specialist, and as a Gifted Specialist. · Am blessed to be married to my best friend, Mr. McCarthy, and to have a wonderful son, Derek. · Am also very fortunate to be teaching here at Desert Horizon, where the students are smart, witty, and talented in so many ways! |
