PROVERBS

Proverbs are old, familiar sayings that often give advice for daily living. Complete each of the following proverbs and explain what it means.

Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy,
Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.
Birds of a feather flock together.
When the cat’s away, the mice will play.
Look before you leap.
The early bird catches the worm.
Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.
A penny saved is a penny earned.
Haste makes waste.
Never put off til tomorrow what you can do today.

Poor Richard’s Almanac was a best selling pamphlet in the American Colonies.  People found his weather forecasts, poems, household hints, calendars, and proverbs to be most helpful.  Ben Franklin sold approximately 10,000 copies per year for twenty-five years!
