Mr. Otterman

Welcome

Dear Student and Parent(s):

Welcome to Villa De Paz and to the eighth and seventh grade academic year.  I want to thank you for sharing your child with me this school year.  Throughout the year, the students will work hard to meet the challenges set by the Administration, faculty, and student organizations at this school.

Each new school year brings students and teachers new hopes and high expectations.  With all new beginnings come unlimited possibilities.   Individual and classroom goals are set.    At this time, I issue each student the following challenge:  Upon reflection do not be satisfied with anything less than a total commitment to school pride and individual honor.  Effort being an individual responsibility, a student should strive for a work ethic that is second to none.  With your participation, we will learn and grow together.

I will take my responsibility for your child's education very seriously.  I appreciate your support in allowing us to set high academic standards.  My intention is to show students the rewards of self-discipline and a strong work ethic.  With your help, and your son/daughter’s effort, I will be successful in our academic endeavors this school year.

I expect each student to come to school each day prepared to work hard, to follow team and school rules, and to enjoy the school experience.  I also encourage parents and guardians to provide materials, a quiet place to study at home, and loving support for our students.  I welcome your participation and ask that you contact me at any time during the school year.

Many students will earn individual successes, but none of these awards is possible without the teamwork of each class member.  We  will watch our  seventh and eighth grade students learn the importance of teamwork in achieving individual and class goals.  Our many successes as an academic grade level  will be a tribute to your child's willingness to help their other classmates.

I  will try to keep an emotional detachment or objectivity toward our students.  However, as I get to know your child, I will find this task impossible.  The many different personalities and talents in our classes will be appreciated.  These students are a credit, to you, their parents.  You have much to be proud of.

My final thought on this year wishes your son/daughter much success and happiness this school year.  I respectfully submit to you my pride in being their teachers.

Sincerely,

Mr. Otterman
