We Are Raising Readers |

Without a doubt, reading is one of the most important skills our children acquire in their young lives. It is a very complex process and requires practice, practice, practice. As parents and teachers, we can help our children by encouraging and modeling good reading behavior. The top ten easy ways to do this are as follows: 10. Go to the Library 9. Have books on hand at home at all reading levels 8. Convey a love of books by reading your own books 7. Turn off the T.V. 6. Read the signs around town while running errands 5. Go to the Library 4. Listen to your children read 3. Reading mistakes are only opportunities to teach 2. Tell them everything they are doing right, and finally….. 1. Cuddle up on the couch and read to your children

It is our belief, at Villa de Paz, that reading instruction is most successful when each child’s needs are addressed individually. Reading Instruction is not a “one size fits all” subject.
Villa’s hope is to create a learning community with parents and families to maximize our children’s success in reading.
