Our Mission

The Maintenance Department is committed to achieving excellent in the quality of its facilities and services for its customers. We believe strongly that achievement of these goals is dependent upon maintaining the excellence of our people and the supportive environment that the district provides. The Maintenance Department is responsible for physical plant needs, renovations, construction and modernization of the district's sites, in addition to the operation of school facilities support. We are responsible for communication and coordination with all public agencies to ensure that all building codes and environmental regulations are met and complied with.

Points of Pride

  1. Over the years, the Arizona Auditor General’s Report has found that our plant operations costs are lower than peer districts’. One way the department has been able to control its costs is its staffing model.
  2. The department has been able to maintain the same number of FTE’s while increasing the districts' building square footage.
  3. We are very proud to have received a LEED gold certificate for the Pendergast Elementary School Green project. The project scored very high in the Energy & Atmosphere category and received 10 of 10 points for optimizing energy performance. Overall, the school has performed very efficiently and has set the standard in our sustainable efforts.
  4. Despite the increase in building square footage, we have reduced our kWh consumption by 2.8 million kWh each year for the past two years.
